Gifts for Guys with Utes

by Jun 7, 2017Lifestyle, News

To own or drive a ute is to be part of an iconic Aussie legacy. Utes may be an essential work vehicle to enable tradies to carry big loads of work gear, but they’re also used for leisure activities. These include off-roading and camping, not to mention that they can transport just about any kind of sports equipment you can think of. These gift ideas will enhance any guy’s ute and take it to the next level.

Storage boxes

A heavy duty storage box is the perfect present for any ute-loving man. They don’t even have to be a tradie to get full use out of it! Austates’ range of strong, weather proof aluminium storage boxes will hold anything from camping gear to your stash of weekend Super Soakers. Better still, if your gift receiver has a non-standard ute tray bed, you can get their storage box customised to exactly the right dimensions they need! Ute Tray Protection

Ute tray protection is a liner that goes onto the tray and is a must for protecting the flooring of the tray, and whatever is being carried, from getting scratched. If dogs are along for the ride, it will also provide a safe, non-skid surface for their travel experience. There are lots of different types of liners, depending on what the the ute’s main purpose is, leisure or work. Liners are usually water resistant and won’t go mouldy. You can get polypropylene liners that are fitted with velcro and have the look and feel of carpet. They can also be made from heavy duty rubber that adheres to the tray by suction cups.

Nudge Bars

Nudge bars are another name for bull bars or push bumpers. They’re usually installed on the front of the ute and are made from aluminium or polycarbonate tubing. As well as providing a more grunty aesthetic appeal, nudge bars also offer slightly more frontal protection than a standard bumper. They can also be used as a platform for mounting spotlights and CB antennas.

Deck Lids

A practical and stylish ute addition is a hard lid or soft deck lid. These come in various styles and colours to match the ute and are made from various materials such as canvas, aluminium, fibreglass and polycarbonate. Soft lids made from rubberised nylon or canvas can be a versatile option. They are secured to the ute by either press studs or a bungee cord woven through eyelets. A hard lid is a more secure option, and some of the more fancy ones can integrate into the ute’s central locking system. They’re also better for protecting the load from the elements.

Decals

Elaborately decorating a ute may not be the first thing you think of when you go about finding a gift for your mate. But we think a bloke’s ute needs to show off a bit of his personality. Get everything from a Bundy Bear in flames, to tongue-in-cheek remarks like “yes I own this ute, no I won’t help you move.” Help them have their ute stand out from the crowd with a little bit of personalisation.
